Bioethics

The sector for Bioethics refers to the proper management, storage and use of human genetic data, which nowadays are frequently appropriated for modern medicine, but also for police investigations.

However, the attempt to define a common and agreed framework for the implementation of principles for Bioethics is not easy, as dilemmas in the fields of medical and scientific research are directly related to the cultural, religious and philosophical background of each society. UNESCO undertakes efforts for the determination of criteria, which will secure responsible and confidential use of such data, so that there is no violation of basic human rights.
