The Sector of Social and Human Sciences aims to upgrade and disseminate knowledge on issues relating to changes in contemporary societies and to enhance cooperation, so that the values of justice, freedom and human dignity are effectively promoted.
More specifically, in today's era of ever-increasing global challenges and threats to these universal values, the message of peaceful coexistence, the promotion of human rights and the fight against discrimination sounds more timely than ever before.
To address the above challenges, UNESCO organises various programmes such as the Programme for Management of Social Transformations – MOST, the Youth Programme and the Culture of Peace and Non-Violence Programme.
